Renovation contemplates family history and mixes classic and contemporary elements
Close to the sea and the Marapendi lagoon, the 300m2 apartment signed by Bernardo Gaudie-Ley and Tânia Braida, from the @betaarquitectura office, carries the many family stories. With their children already grown, the couple asked for a renovation and a new decoration that would take advantage of the incredible view of the space. This way, all the rooms were designed by the architects and practically the entire decoration is new, except the rug in the dining room and some works of art. Customers already lived in this apartment, but only now have they decided to face a radical renovation.
The first step was to demolish the entrance hall wall to increase the access door. The access door to the kitchen has also been expanded and replaced by a sliding model for better integration of spaces. The fourth suite of the apartment was eliminated to expand the living room and the master bedroom suite, which gained two independent bathrooms.
Another bet of the architects was to transform the living room balcony into a living space, with light tones decoration and woodwork. In the color palette, the architects used shades that the client likes, such as pink and green. Another request was to add a classic touch to contemporary design through boiseries on the walls.
American oak panels in the social area were also requested by the resident, who is very fond of this type of finish. “In addition to making the space more welcoming and adding visual unity, the resource helped to camouflage in the carpentry the access door to the apartment”, summarizes Bernardo Gaudie-Ley. The view and the privileged natural lighting of the property contributed to the light effect of the decoration, exactly as the residents wanted. The décor oscillates between classic and contemporary styles, with modern touches. A highlight for the large and colorful painting by artist Daniel Lannes, Galeria Inox, behind the pair of Zeca seats, signed by Zanine Caldas.
Master’s suite: the couple asked for a hotel-style master suite; the architects were inspired by Fasano Boa Vista, which has a view similar to that of the bedroom, replicating wood and similar fabrics. In the kitchen, the client asked to reproduce the concept of the previous apartment, adding only the blue color to the upper cabinets. The entire transformation took place after two months of design and another six months of construction.
